This short film pokes fun at Paulo Coelho’s famous statement, “When you really want something, the universe will conspire to make it happen”. The film tells us about a young man who cannot keep his promise to his fiancée to attend her family dinner. The hapless hero is determined to convince his fiancée of his good intentions and tries to cover it all up with little white lies. Without realising it, the world around him seems to be supporting him in his attempt to cancel this family dinner appointment.
Made by Joko Anwar whilst visiting a Swiss fantasy film fest, this short is a testament to spur-of-the-moment, lo-fi, DIY film making.
